Since the establishment in 1920, our company has been working consistently on mining and processing limestone, and manufacturing and selling various calcium carbonate products out of this raw material.

Calcium carbonate is the material essential to our society.
Our group’s mines produce high-grade, white limestone of highly crystallized and with few impurities. It is our mission to provide such quality resource for the long term.

History

1920

A cement engineer, Itaro Watanabe founded our parent company, ASAHI KOHMATSU SHIRYO LTD., PARTNERSHIP.. Shimomago Factory started in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and produced Pounded powder for foodstuff and crushed stone, Kansuiseki.

1939

Ohgoe Factory started in Tamura-gun, Ohgoe-machi, Fukushima Prefecture.

1942

Tatsuzo Sase assumed the representative partner.

1952

Niimi Factory started in Niimi City, Okayama Prefecture.

1961

Ishinokura Factory started in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

1968

Taken over Kanmata Factory (presently FUKUSHIMA LIME CO., LTD.) in Takine-machi, Tamura-gun, Fukushima Prefecture from Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd..

1971

Mayumi Factory started in Hitachiota City, Ibaraki Prefecture.

1989

ASAHI KOHMATSU CO., LTD. was newly established, taking over the sales division of parent company ASAHI KOHMATSU SHIRYO LTD., PARTNERSHIP. , and Shuji Sase assumed CEO.

1994

Ohtakine Factory started in Ohgoe-machi, Tamura-gun, Fukushima Prefecture in ASAHI KOHMATSU CO., LTD..

1996

Taken over Mayumi Factory from ASAHI KOHMATSU SHIRYO LTD., PARTNERSHIP..

1999

Tasuku Sase assumed CEO of ASAHI KOHMATSU SHIRYO LTD., PARTNERSHIP..

2001

Taken over the filtration business of Howa Sangyo Co., Ltd., who was a subsidiary of Taiheiyo Cement Co., Ltd., and started it as HOWA INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD.. Taken over all of Takine Mine in Fukushima from Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd., and named “ASAHI TAKINE MINE”.

2003

Ohtakine Factory acguired ISO9001 certification.

2007

Tasuku Sase assumed President and CEO.
Shuji Sase assumed chairman and executive director of ASAHI KOHMATSU CO., LTD..

2011

The Asahi Takine Mine and the Asahi Ohgoe Mine merged and renamed to the Shin-takine Mine.

2015

Shin-takine mine awarded National Security Award.

2018

Hatayama mine awarded National Security Award.

2020

Asahi Kohmatsu welcomed its 100-year anniversary.
